Strategies and plans
The Strategy and Planning team are primarily involved with
minerals, waste and transport planning, influencing policy
development at the local and national level.
We are responsible for the production of the Minerals and Waste Development Framework and the
Local Transport
Plan.
Planning policy at Kent County Council also involves:
- Responding to consultations from the government and other local
authorities/bodies on drafts of guidance and policy.
- Commenting and shaping Kent's borough and district
councils' and neighbouring authorities’ planning
documents.
- Influencing major planning applications of strategic importance
within Kent.
- Strategic transport issues such as trunk roads, rail, ports,
airports and freight.
Getting involved in planning
One of the key aims of the planning system is to involve
the community in the development of our plans and policies.
We are currently revising our Statement of Community Involvement. It will set
out how we intend to inform and involve the Kent community in the
development of minerals and waste policy and the consideration of
planning
applications.
We will publicly consult on our minerals and waste policy
documents. Consultation opportunities will be publicised on the
Minerals and Waste Development Framework
page.
To receive notification when consultation documents are
published, you can register as a consultee on our Planning
Portal.
For information about commenting on planning applications, view
the have your say
