Art Textiles: Made in Britain comprises of Bethan Ash, Louise Baldwin, Jessica Grady, Cas Holmes, Christine Howell, Rosie James, Edwina Mackinnon, Sandra Meech, Sylvia Paul, Stephanie Redfern, Christine Restall, and Sarah Waters, all leading textile artists working in Britain today.

Art Textiles: Made in Britain presented their latest group show of work made to the theme of Illuminate – ‘to make something visible or bright, shining light on it or helping to clarify or explain’ resulting in an exciting display by a variety of artists exploring different ideas and media.

A free drop in family workshop inspired by the theme ILLUMINATE

Come and experiment with shiny threads, sequins and sparkly beads.

Stitch a starburst, bling up a tiny teddy, or just have fun with light reflecting materials

Each artist shone a light on a different aspect of life and explored ‘Illuminate’ in their own chosen way using many different textile techniques, including felting, quilting, embroidery and mixed media.

The groups aim is to promote British art textiles and to ensure their future; to introduce them to new audiences and to continually stretch the boundaries with new, vibrant work, both as individuals and as a group.
Art Textiles: Made in Britain was was the idea of Hilary Beattie, who started the group in 2013.

Our new show Illuminate premiered at the Knitting and Stitching Show 2023 at Alexandra Palace, London. The exhibition started at the Harrogate Convention Centre, before touring around the UK.
