We want every child and young person in Kent to fulfil
their potential. We especially want those children who are
disadvantaged, living in poverty or in difficult circumstances to
have the support and help they need to grow up enjoying their
childhood, safe, healthy and happy.
We also want their families to feel supported and to make sure
that the services we offer are the services people want.
The
Kent Children's Trust, made up of organisations that provide
services for children and young people, has produced an updated
Children and Young People's Plan. It is based on 8 priorities that
the Trust think are the most important things we need to work on to
improve the lives of children and young people in our county.
They are:
- reducing the impact of living in poverty
- providing children and young people with the emotional skills
and resilience to build on success, deal with life's challenges and
make good choices
- supporting parents
- improving the quality and stability of housing
- supporting vulnerable children to achieve their potential and
enjoy life
- making sure children and young people have places to go and
things to do
- ensuring young people are participating and achieving their
potential into adulthood
- children are safe and feel safe
The draft plan is based on these priorities and identifies the
outcomes and actions we think will improve the life chances of
children and young people and their families.
Across Kent new arrangements are being put in place in the shape
of local children's services partnerships. The partnerships are
made up from all organisations that work in Children's Services in
a local area and they will work together to deliver the outcomes
that are in the Children and Young People's Plan.
These outcomes and actions will shape the way services are
developed and delivered in local communities across Kent, which is
why we want to hear from you to make sure we have got it right.
