An operating theatre that fits in the back of a car? A
computerised doll that accurately simulates the behaviour of a
child? Buses that update you on their journey?
These may sound like ideas from a science
fiction film but they are actually just some of the
innovations that are making a big impact across the
county.
You can find out more about these and lots of other exciting
projects in KCC's
third catalogue of innovations - The Kent e-Catalogue of
Innovations, which features innovations from across the public,
private and voluntary sector.
Created as part of the
Kent Year of Innovation, the catalogue aims to raise the
profile of Kent as a place of creativity.
Among the innovations included in the catalogue are:
-
Compact Operating Theatre - This 'hospital in a box'
can be transported in the back of a 4x4 vehicle. It allows
procedures to be performed in remote environments.
-
Simulation to support learning - A mannequin 'Sim
Baby' is computer programmed to give student nurses experience at
monitoring a sick child. The symptoms can evolve to recreate
various medical conditions.
-
Kent bus tracking system - Buses are fitted with GPS
equipment and radios so that a central computer can identify their
location. This information can be seen on the Kent Traffic and
Travel website.
You can read about the journeys of some of the innovations in
the
Stories of Change book.
You can also read the two
previous catalogues of innovation.

Catalogue of Innovation. |
