Severe winter weather conditions
In addition to our routine winter
service, there may be times when we experience more severe or
extended periods of winter weather.
At these times, we may be working continuously on the primary
routes to clear them of ice and snow.
We will use all the resources available to us and we may not be
able to treat other roads until the primary routes are clear.
However, staff will hand salt routes to schools, hospitals,
doctors' surgeries and similar high priority locations.
During prolonged cold spells, ice and snow will take longer to
melt and conditions on the roads may deteriorate making journeys
more difficult to make. It is best not to travel unless you really
have to.
We will keep local TV and radio stations informed about road
conditions and encourage everyone to follow the advice given out
about when journeys by road are not recommended.
Current action
In the event of adverse winter weather conditions, we will
publish daily information about the action we are taking.
