Who we are

C-Care is a cross-Channel Interreg project which aims to respond to some of the socio-economic challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.

C-Care is led by Kent County Council and involves 3 other English and 3 French partner organisations who are jointly implementing the project. C-Care will provide support to businesses and individuals at risk of exclusion in the France-Channel England area to aid economic recovery.

As part of this project, the Growth and Communities division within Kent County Council will lead on a technology resilience voucher pilot scheme to provide support to Kent businesses. The Sustainable Business and Communities team will also be leading on a Green Recovery Voucher Scheme to provide support to Kent businesses.

Kent County Council

Kent County Council is the largest local authority in England covering an area of 3,500 square kilometres. It has an annual expenditure of over £1bn on goods and services and a population of 1.3m. The council provides a wide range of personal and strategic services on behalf of its residents, operating in partnership with 12 district councils and 289 parish and town councils.

We work closely with external partner organisations locally, nationally and internationally to deliver the activities of the C-Care project, including a Green Recovery Voucher Scheme and a Technology Resilience Voucher Scheme.

Purpose of data collection

We may collect, use and be responsible for certain information about your business. When we do so, we operate under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which applies across the European Union and the UK, and we are responsible of that information with the role of the information controller.

In addition to the data covered by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) we may also collect commercial information about the businesses participating in the project, such as the annual turnover, number of employees, company description, etc. This information will help us with the delivery of the project, as well as to capture results and changes that will help us evaluate the impact of project on the Kent businesses.

Information we collect

In the course of the Green Recovery and Technology Resilience Voucher Scheme activities, our teams will request that the participating businesses provide us with the following information, in order to apply for the scheme:

  • number of employees
  • annual turnover
  • description of business
  • name of company representative
  • email address and contact phone number of company representative.

Equality and diversity

Kent County Council gathers knowledge and information on groups of people we provide services to, in order to make sure that everyone is treated equally and services are improved. We will ask the businesses participating in the scheme to provide the following information, and ensure that any such information remains anonymised and is not attributable to any individual:

  • type of business
  • is the business gender-led?
  • is the business disability-led?
  • age of owners
  • is the business ethnic minority-led?

How we may use your personal information

We may use your information to:

  • contact you about your participation to the project, the progress in the provision of the service on behalf of KCC or any of its contactors and associates.
  • contact you for evaluation and follow up purposes regarding your participation to the C-Care Green Recovery Voucher Scheme, if you give us permission to do so.
  • keep you informed about the C-Care initiatives and programmes of business support activities, if you give us permission to do so.
  • keep records of businesses that have participated in the C-Care Green Recovery Voucher scheme as part of our obligations to comply with the requirements of external funding bodies.

How long your personal information will be kept for

We will hold your information until 31 December 2028, as this is the required retention period for the documentation evidencing the delivery of the scheme and set out in the grant offer letter signed by the managing authority of the Interreg Channel programme and Kent County Council, as Lead Partner of the C-Care project.

Your consent

We rely on you to provide your consent as the lawful basis on which we will collect and use your data. You may withdraw your consent at any time. If you do withdraw your consent, no further information will be collected, and the existing information shall only be retained in accordance with our data protection policy. If you do withdraw your consent, you will no longer be contacted about future C-Care activities.

Who we share your information with

We will share your information with the managing authority of the Interreg Channel programme and appointed associates of the Kent County Council, for the purposes of audit and/or evaluation of the Technology Resilience Voucher scheme.

We will also share your information with law enforcement or other authorities if required by applicable law.

Your rights

Under GDPR your rights, which you can exercise free of charge, allow you to:

  • withdraw your consent at any time
  • be aware of how we are capturing, storing and using your information and why
  • request to be formally notified of the information we hold about you
  • ask us to make corrections in the information we hold about you
  • make a complaint to the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Under special circumstances you may also be entitled to:

  • ask us to delete information we hold about you
  • have your information transferred electronically to you or to another organisation
  • object to decisions being made that significantly affect you
  • object to how we use your information
  • prevent us from using your information in certain ways.

We will always seek to comply with your request, but we may be required to hold or use your information to comply with legal duties.

Keeping your information secure

We have the necessary security measures in place to prevent information from being accidentally lost or used or accessed in an unauthorised way. We limit access to your information to those who have a genuine reason to access it. Those processing your information will do so only in an authorised manner and are subject to a duty of confidentiality.

We have procedures in place to deal with any suspected data security breach. We will notify you and any applicable regulator of a suspected data security breach when we are legally required to do so.
