Folkestone and Hythe KYCC candidates
Voting opened on 11 November and closes on 24 November for the Kent Youth County Council elections.
Results of the election will be published on 3 December.
Unfortunately, we have not had enough candidates register in Folkestone and Hythe to hold an election this year. However, we still need your help in deciding next year’s KYCC campaigns.

I want you to vote for me because:
I want to help strive towards a society that is accepting of one another, where we can all celebrate our differences.
Issue 1: tackling racism and segregation
In this campaign, I want to promote equality and help to eradicate harmful stereotypes. I would like to do this by helping young people learn about a variety of unique cultures to help broaden their perspectives.
Issue 2: relationships with the community
In this campaign, I would like to help improve relationships between young people and the local community, by organising work shops and other community based activities opened to the public, in the hope of strengthening bonds between people.
Issue 3: educational and emotional support
In this campaign, I would like to help reduce the stress young people are under during school due to burn out among other things, to help them improve their work ethic and mental health. By giving more young people emotional support, we can help to improve their wellbeing.
I want you to vote for me because:
I think I could bring my points across with good reasons and help people get more understanding.
Issue 1: road safety
I think that this is a very strong topic to talk about since then teenagers and younger children can get a better understanding on the roads and they will also realise not to mess around near roads. I am strong on this topic since many children are getting hit by cars over the past few years.
Issue 2: online safety
This is another could topic to get young people understanding about since many people add random people online that they don’t know and they say they are younger than they are and try to add children so I think that if we educate young people on this topic they will be safer online than they are.
Issue 3: more hangouts for teenagers
I reckon there should be more hangouts for teenagers since normally teenagers are just sat around at parks with nothing to do since they have no where to go and this could be bad for teenagers since then they get weird stares by parents since they are just sat at a kids park, so this is a benefit.
I want you to vote for me because:
I will ensure that young people across the county are represented regardless of their background, nationality or disability.
Issue 1: mentoring in schools
I will ensure that there is a mentoring scheme in all schools and educational settings as it is beneficial for younger students.
Issue 2: saving our youth centres
I will campaign to stop youth centres in Kent being shut down as they are a vital lifeline to vulnerable young people and families.
Issue 3: new culture centre in Kent
I will campaign to open a new Culture Centre in Kent to help families celebrate and share their culture.
I want you to vote for me because:
I want young people’s voices heard. We’re the next generation and need to have our opinions valued. I want to be able to do that for others.
Issue 1: mental health and supporting young people
Young people’s mental health is an always growing topic of conversation as well as an always increasing worry as statistics reach all time highs and the affect are showing in young peoples lives. I want to be able to get people support so no one feels alone or like they need to struggle in silence.
Issue 2: financial education for young people
Growing up is something everyone is going to do one day and with that comes more and more responsibilities. And within that is dealing with finances independently for the first time which is a situation no one should have to face unprepared so I want all children to have access to financial education.
Issue 3: public transport funding and access
Young people use public transport for everything whether it’s for school or to go and see their friends. But with that comes so much extra cost and extra time due to bad schedules or bad routes they have to take, which is so unfair for people, so I want public transport to be more easy accessible.
I want you to vote for me because:
I want you to vote for me as I feel it’s important young people in and around Kent have a healthy and safe up bringing.
Issue 1: mental health
I want sign post more about where young people can get help.
Issue 2: racism
I’ve notice more and more while out and about young people being racially harassed and abused because of their colour and i want to change that.
Issue 3: anti-bullying
I want the young people to be able to feel safe at school and in their town.
