Suicide Prevention Strategy

The Suicide Prevention Strategy is the drive to reduce local suicides, and is led by a Kent and Medway multi-agency suicide prevention steering group, formed in November 2009.

This group has published a Suicide Prevention Strategy for Kent and Medway.  There is an implementation plan setting out actions and accountabilities, which has already made good progress.

The Kent and Medway multi-agency suicide prevention steering group is comprised of representation from a variety of agencies including:

  • British Transport Police
  • Canterbury Christchurch University
  • Kent Coroners
  • Kent County Council
  • Kent Police
  • NHS Kent and Medway
  • Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust (KMPT)
  • Medway Council
  • Network Rail
  • NHS England
  • West Kent Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG)
  • the Samaritans
  • carers.

It is chaired by a Public Health Kent County Council representative.
