Dover Strait projects
PASSAGE (2016 to 2020)
Value of EU Grant - £261,848
Name of funding programme - Interreg Europe programme
Start and end dates - May 2016 to March 2020
PASSAGE is funded by the Interreg Europe programme and co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The project is led by Pas-de-Calais Council. We are one of 11 partners all of which are members of the European Straits Initiative.
The project is examining how we can make the transition to a low-carbon society and low-carbon economy. This is particularly relevant to the Dover Strait area, where we need to manage the growth of the transport corridor at the same time as ensuring the area continues to be a destination for visitors and place where people want to live and work.
Phase 1 of the project ran from 2016 to 2018 and involved the development of the Dover Strait Action Plan.
Phase 2 runs from 2018 to 2020 and is focused on its implementation.

NOSTRA (2012 to 2014)
Dover Strait Implementation Plan
The plan was developed with local stakeholders on both sides of the strait through the Interreg IVC project NOSTRA (Network of STRAits) 2012 - 14. It represents the shared vision of Kent County Council and Pas-de-Calais Council for the Dover Strait to have greater recognition as a rich maritime and coastal environment with a long and fascinating cultural history.
