End of partnership with Checkatrade
On 31 March 2020, we ended the Trading Standards partnership with Checkatrade and launched our own Trading Standards Checked scheme for Kent businesses.
We continued to work with Checkatrade as memberships came to an end on 31 March 2021.
Trading Standards Approved logos can no longer be used
Since 1 April 2021 there have been no Trading Standards Approved traders and all branding and logos, including vehicle vinyls, stationery, advertising materials and images on personal websites should have been removed.
The continued use of the Kent County Council Trading Standards Approved logo is a criminal offence under the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008. This includes all variations of the logo in colour or black and white.
Should you see any of these logos displayed, report this to Citizen’s Advice Consumer Services on their website or call 0808 223 1133. Examples of the logos that can not be displayed any more are shown below.
Trading Standards Checked
Over 500 Kent Traders have now registered with Trading Standards Checked - look out for the logo displayed proudly on their vans and other signage.
Trading Standards Checked carries out more rigorous vetting and safety checks than any other scheme in Kent. Our aim is to keep Kent residents safe from rogue traders while supporting legitimate Kent businesses.
