What's on at Canterbury family hubs

Here are the activities happening between 22 July and 30 August.  Activities are free and happen every week unless we say otherwise.

Herne Bay Family Hub

For expectant parents and carers, until your child is walking.

A chance to socialise with others, gain information, support and advice.

SEND Support group Thursday 2 August 9:30am to 11am For ages 0 to 19-year-olds. Up to 25-years-old if your young person has special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

We can help you with understanding your child’s needs, tips and strategies to help at home, signposting to local SEND support services and getting the best from your child’s education.
Pizza Making Monday 19 August 1pm to 5pm

For 6 to 11-year-olds.

It’s pizza time! Come and make pizza from scratch with Kent Adult Education. Then enjoy a range of other arts and crafts activities while your pizza is cooked on site ready to enjoy before you go home.

Cinema Trip Tuesday 20 August Time confirmed on booking

We have a number of family tickets available so you can enjoy a family-friendly screening at the Kavangh Cinema in Herne Bay. We will also be providing a voucher so you can enjoy a drink or snack with the film.

All Family Event Wednesday 21 August 10am to 2pm

We would love to see as many families as possible at our fun family events for all ages. As well as a range of activities and entertainment to enjoy, there will also be a marketplace with stalls led by many of the partners we work with across the district.

Activities will include:

  • creepy claws animal experience
  • smoothie bikes
  • art and craft activities
  • circus skills.
Basketball Thursday 22 August 1pm to 5pm

The East Kent Youth Basketball League are holding a bookable workshop where you will get a chance to learn new skills or build on your existing basketball ability.

Our youth team will also be on site to support the activity and there will be a range of healthy snacks on offer during the session.

Wheely FunThursday 8 August10am to 2pm

Enjoy the thrills of cars and racing with a whole room set up by the Wheely Fun Club including tracks, remote control cars and ride on vehicles. A place where kids drive the imagination.

Book into this creative modelling session offering a range of mediums including clay, dough, and papier mâché and led by Kent Adult Education.

Our team will also be offering the opportunity for participants to make their own pizza to eat on site or take home.

Outdoor SportsTuesday  13 August12pm to 4pm

Book onto this hard-court fitness and games session led by the Sports Connect Team.

Participants will also all get a go on the smoothie bike to make their own delicious drink and enjoy a range of other activities led by our youth team. Healthy snacks will be available during the session.

Pop Up GamingWednesday 14 August9am to 1pm

We are delighted to have the Pop Up Arcade Team on site with a range of consoles and arcade machines for families to try out. Up to twenty people can enjoy some gaming at any one time during the session.

Our team will also be on site to support activities and a range of healthy snacks will be available.

Book onto this session for the chance to find new ways to connect with nature in this garden-based workshop led by Kent Adult Education.

For 11+ year olds.
