How to raise an adult safeguarding concern about yourself or someone else

Urgent concern

If you think someone is in immediate danger, the best thing to do is call 999 for the emergency services.

If they are not in immediate danger, report your concern to us.

To get help from us, we will need some information about the person. Don't worry if you don't have all the details we're asking. If you are able to, tell us:

  • what type of abuse is taking place
  • where it happens
  • if the police or NHS are involved
  • their contact details such as a name and address
  • if they have any care and supports needs, such as getting out of bed, washing and dressing and being part of the community.

Remember noticing is not nosiness. You could help save someone’s life.
