Support for children and young people released from custody
Our Young People with SEN in the Youth Justice System guide explains how our Youth Justice and SEN Assessment and Placement Teams work together to support young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), especially those with an education, health and care (EHC) plan EHCP, who are in a custodial setting.
It explains the different processes, roles, responsibilities and transition into adult settings. It also includes a flowchart showing the custody process, and a list of contact details for our teams.
The guide follows rules from the Children and Families Act 2014, that apply to children and young people 18 years and under.
