SEND support in further education
As you move from secondary school to further education, you will need extra support.
At sixth form
As you move through secondary school into sixth form, your school has learned what works well for you. They know how to best support you with your learning.
But if you feel need extra help talk to your:
- SENCO
- careers advisor
- form tutor
- head of year.
To prepare you for the move read our Planning for Adulthood (PfA) Core Standards. It shows you how your school or college can help you work towards your dreams. It also explains what help you should expect from them and what you can do yourself.
At further education or a training provider
If you go to a further education or training provider, their Learning Support Team can help you. This can include:
- help in the classroom
- offer one to one help
- set up exams and extra time.
They can also let you know who to contact if you need extra help. For example:
- educational psychologists
- Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS)
- specialist teachers
- supported employment services
- mentors
- counsellors or therapists.
