Help after a flood for businesses
If your business property is flooded, it's important that everyone is evacuated. If it is not safe to go outside, stay inside unless advised to evacuate by the emergency services.
What to do next and who to talk to
Here are some tips to help you after a flood happens:
- begin your prepared flood plan (if you have one)
- make sure any customers or suppliers are aware of alternative delivery locations or cancellations.
- do not enter the building if it is flooded
- work from home or alternative workspace as arranged in your business plan.
- remove any important documents
- secure your property.

Insurance
If your business property is damaged by a flood, contact your insurance as soon as you can. Follow their advice, and take as many photographs as you can for evidence.
