Parking tickets and fines

Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) are issued for parking or traffic violations.

PCNs can either be issued by us or your district council. PCNs issued by us will have a ‘KN’ prefix. If you receive a Penalty Charge Notice that does not start with ‘KN’, contact the district council of the area where the PCN was issued. Get more information about PCNs.

The penalty amount is either £70 or £50, depending on the nature of the violation. The discount period for PCNs issued by district councils is 14 days, or 21 days for PCNs issued by us. If you pay a PCN within the discount period, you will only be charged half of the penalty.

If you want to appeal a PCN, you must do so within 28 days of receiving the ticket (the date of service).
