Kent and Medway Carers' Emergency Card
As a carer, you may often worry about what would happen to the person you care for if you suddenly became ill or were involved in an accident. By carrying a Kent and Medway Carers’ Emergency Card, someone close to you may be contacted in those situations so that the person you care for can be supported while you're unavailable.
You can apply for the card (which is free of charge) if you:
- live in Kent or Medway
- are over 18
- care for someone else.
How the card works
You'll be given a leaflet with cards to cut out, a printed sheet of extra cards and a sheet of key fob inserts. The cards are about the size of a credit card and the key fob inserts can be used on a keyring.
The card and key fob will have a space to write down the number of an emergency contact, who will be called in the event of an accident or sudden illness, to ensure the person you care for is supported while you receive care. The card and key fob do not contain any other personal details. Our main telephone number is also included for guidance and support. The card and key fob may form part of your personal emergency plan.
