Home testing for sexually transmitted infections (STIs)
To receive a free screening kit to your home address, you will need to register with SH:UK and answer a series of questions which will identify the tests which are most appropriate for you. This information will be received by our laboratory provider.
The online STI testing service will recommend testing for chlamydia and HIV. We strongly encourage you to take up this opportunity to get tested.
We offer home testing for:
- blood-borne viruses:
- bacterial infections:
Test results and treatment
The possible test results are:
- negative – if your result is negative, we will text you your results
- positive – if your result is positive, we will share your results with the specialist sexual health results bureau who will contact you.
- reactive – this means that additional testing is needed to confirm whether the test is positive. We will share your results with the specialist sexual health results bureau, who will contact you.
The more STIs you test positive for, the greater your risk of HIV.
